Project XYZ has been actively involving in architectural competition, furniture and installation designs. Apart from designing objects, the initiative also interested in organising events such as podcast, moderations, workshops, and round table discussion.
Young People are Dumb and Broke(?)
In the architectural industry with endless possibilities and opportunities to learn, young students are often to be told that “time is your most valuable asset and make as much mistakes as you can”. Meanwhile, on the other side the new bloods are seen as Young, Dumb and Broke. In fact, this is the prime time for the students to be bold and experimental to put new ideas or attempts into test with a hope to find a voice that speaks of ourselves.
Apart from gathering the experiences that make us to be more confident, self-fulfilling and motivational, there is also an inevitable need to identify what are options and compromises to be discarded, ignored and archived in the decision-making process.
Young Designer Searching for Purpose
In this sharing session, Gary wishes to share the journey behind Project XYZ, established as an architectural student initiative to a collective with a strong belief in multidisciplinary practice, exploring and strive for the cultural, social and economic sustainability. This questions the purpose, engagement, business model of the collective from a perspective of young designer.
