Meeting somebody who can appreciate our culture and struggle is rare such as meeting Michelle Lim. She is a very warm and positive person. In a short time, we discussed many things about daily life in Guha, and she shared the uniqueness of the M.A.D. School she founded in Singapore.

She talked about the hope, the vision and togetherness that will shape the future of our firm, moreover the future Indonesian architects. We strive for perfection, culture, and ways to break the limit on a daily basis. For example, the relationship between the fresh graduates and the seniors who are inside the school, and from what we think it’s based on the three cores from the testimonial of Michelle.

First, we need to have fun when doing or learning architecture. Meaning to have a positive attitude and excitement when exploring. It’s a way to have an open mind and absorb ideas from our surroundings with good ethics.

The second is no fear. We encounter the fear of being imperfect every day, in fulfilling the joy, being present in the meeting, to be responsible for what we have done so far. We often question ourselves: if we have a good motive to push the bar in architecture, why should we have fear in mind? Therefore, we train to be perfect every day.

It’s resulting in the third core, the high energy to fight that’s running through us. Here, we continuously feel restless, craving perfection in our studio. Therefore, it creates a high spirit between the collaborators inside the studio, including the clients, engineers, design specialists, and each party.

Those cores simultaneously can be read as the beginning of a way to touch people’s hearts through architecture. Michelle’ testimonial shows that some people can read our beliefs and cores. By doing that, we believe that we will connect with people with the same energy or higher, or that we will contribute the same hope for them. Then, we can create a very good circle of understanding architecture, deeper than before.
