Budiman Holan Hendropurnomo was born in Malang 1954, graduated from Melbourne School of Design in 1981 Melbourne University. After spending time in the Netherlands (under Prof Jan Brouwer), Australia and Hong Kong. He started DCM Jakarta in 1983. The office was formalised as PT Duta Cermat Mandiri in 1987 when Blok M Plaza was conceived.
He receives nine IAI Nasional Awards (Indonesian institute of Architects) in 1991, 1996, 2002, 2005, 2011, 2012 and 2015. Also two citation awards from Australian Institute of Architect (International Awards) In 2013 and 2015. Some of his works are published in Denton Corker Marshall book NARRATIVES non-fictional by Leon Van Schaik. birkhauser. His interest lies in the search of sustainable architecture both in terms of cultural and physical entities.
