Bittersweet Memories in Design Experience | 04. Supie Yolodi

We have learnt from Gregorius Supie Yolodi, the person behind D-Associates, one of the leading architecture firms in Indonesia. Pak Supie shared how his passion in architecture become his most powerful force to drive the practices.

Started off with Pak Supie explained his projects throughout the city, mainly in Jakarta. He mostly talked about the experience when he and his team are in charge at the time, and how they dealt with problems and limitations. Every projects is unique and show a different approaches to complete.

Pak Supie talk about his initial forces in his story at the time he decide he would love to be in the realm of architecture until now, how the love is never ended. He also shared his experiences dealing with clients, fellow practitioner and other disciplines. He told us the importance of ”Integrity” in every aspect of circumstances. He showed in his practice, the application of integrity has been everywhere. It’s not just a mere attitude, but it’s the way of life.

Integrity, by means is how we will deliver to others, and it should be the one that drives us to achieve our goals. When asked “how we can retain our passion (architecture) ? We love the taste of it but could we never get enough of it?” Supie answered, that passion in architecture is not the taste, its the hunger itself.

Our passion is like our hunger, we need to eat proper, but it doesn’t meant we have to eat the same kind of food to relish the feels. We can see a lot of things either it’s architecture related or not, but it should relieved the need of our passion, well in this case, that passion in architecture.
